Visit to Himalayan Mountaineering Institute

Himalayan Mountaineering Institute was established in 1954 to encourage Indians to mountaineer since then mountaineering is considered as an organized sport in India. As the first ever institute for mountaineering in India it offers various courses for learners. The fees charged are four thousand rupees for Indian citizens and 700 dollars for other nationals, It includes food and accommodation. The duration of courses is four weeks. HMI is a destination by itself and a said to be a pilgrimage for all climbing enthusiasts of the world. However, the main objective is to encourage and promote mountaineering activities among the youths. It was established in honour of Tenzing Norgay after he and Sir Edmund Hillary climbed the Everest in 1953. Mr.Norgay also acted as the first director of field training for Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. It has a well-stocked museum with mountaineering displays and many expedition artefacts, a boarding school for mountaineering students, houses for the trainers, a restaurant, a souvenir shop and more. HMI is located on Jawahar Road or the Birch Hill that can be accessed from the Mall Road and Lebong Cart Road. One can walk down Mall road & then Jawahar road to reach HMI.

Cancellation Policy:
• If cancellations are made 30 days before the start date of the visit, 25% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
• If cancellations are made 15-30 days before the start date of the visit, 50% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
• If cancellations are made within 0-15 days before the start date of the visit, 100% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

Refund Policy:
•The applicable refund amount will be processed within 15 business days
